Harrison Ford just made his superhero movie debut as Red Hulk, but his most exciting role in 2025 is in the critically acclaimed Western series 1923. Reviews of Captain America: Brave New World were relatively mixed, as has been the case frequently with recent Marvel films.
However, Harrison Ford's contribution as Thaddeus Ross, which he inherited from the late great William Hurt, has commonly been cited as one of the most enjoyable parts of the film.
Harrison Ford's best movies include legendary titles like Blade Runner, Star Wars, and Indiana Jones, but the actor's most recent output has primarily been on television. Streaming shows have given countless actors to show different aspects of their acting capabilities, be it Matthew McConaughey, Sylvester Stallone, or Harrison Ford. Recent years have seen him return as Indiana Jones and appear in a Marvel film, but he's also been the star of a comedy show and a period Western, impressing audiences in a way no one could have seen coming.

Harrison Ford plays Jacob Dutton in 1923's cast, leading the ensemble of Taylor Sheridan's hit Yellowstone prequel series. Despite being part of a franchise, 1923 can be enjoyed without any prior knowledge of Yellowstone or Taylor Sheridan's work, and it's arguably the most unique and well-written piece in his television filmography. Aside from Harrison Ford, the great Helen Mirren and Brandon Sklenar give terrific performances. Ford is part of the ensemble, but he's given plenty of time in the forefront of drama scenes as well as shootouts and other action sequences.

Harrison Ford's movies have grossed nearly $11 billion at the box office (and even more when adjusted for inflation), but he's only ever been nominated once for an Oscar. He's been a movie star for decades, but he's always gravitated more toward action movies and blockbusters, limiting his chances at award contention. 1923 is the rare case where he's able to unleash something special that's unlike anything we've seen from him. The only roles in his career that have been this raw and exhilarating have been in Blade Runner and Witness.

It's bizarre, in a sense, to imagine Harrison Ford being a TV star. When he was at the peak of his fame, television was a far cry from the art form it is today. Prior to being cast in 1923 and the Apple TV+ comedy series, Shrinking, he hadn't played a prominent role on a TV show since his days as a struggling actor in the 1960s and early 1970s. Yet, here we are in 2025, where Harrison Ford is doing some of the strongest work he's ever done, delivered straight to our homes.

In fact, at the time, there were plans for a whole new trilogy of films that would have likely featured O’Connell. In an interview with MTV prior to the release of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Bello revealed she was signed up for a further trilogy of sequels.
“I don’t know when, but it’s going,” she said. “[There will] absolutely be ‘The Mummy 4.’ “
Ultimately, despite being a sizable success at the box office with earnings of over $400 million, the third film in the franchise garnered lukewarm reviews with many critical of the attempts at shoe-horning in a more Asia-centric plot to try and drum up interest in China, with Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh cast. By 2012, Universal Pictures had put a halt to plans for a further follow-up, deciding instead to focus on a reboot.

Quite what form a fourth film would take is unclear. At one point, there had been talk of a sequel titled The Mummy: Rise of the Aztec, with online rumors suggesting O’Connell and the gang would be going up against a revived Aztec emperor played by Antonio Banderas. How close that film came to fruition is unclear, but the premise does sound intriguing, even if it does steer things further away from the original movie’s Egyptian origins by setting proceedings in South America.
